So you don’t like welfare and you stand for a capitalistic way of life. Really? Well...you'd better sit down my friend; this one is going to hurt. You and all of us have been supporting and receiving welfare longer than the term welfare has been around. Subsidies are a type of welfare. Subsidies are put in place to help an underdog have a shot at survival and eventually thrive.

I grew up in Garrison, Maryland, a woodsy part of the state back in the 70s and 80s. One thing was common amongst my friends; we loved motorcycle riding. I would lay awake at night thinking about the weekend ride. Saturday mornings during the summer we would push our motorcycles across Reisterstown road, ride through the Valley Drive In and all the way up to the railroad tracks.

A few days ago I attended the environmental legislative summit in Annapolis. We were treated to a three-course meal of we need you, followed by we will get it done and for dessert we had it will take more taxes to get it done. I’ve had this dinner before! There was such a strong attendance and excitement that I admit it tasted a little bit better than usual, almost.
